Magnolia Tree

Magnolia Tree
Current mood: grateful
Category: Blogging

Whew! Has it been a week for you? It has for me! Time sure flies when you're having fun!

Sunday I was in a neighboring city at a 4-H meeting. At the entrance to the meeting facility was a huge Magnolia tree. I don't know how old this magnificent tree is but it is gigantic! I can only imagine how many passing of the seasons it has seen. On this tree there were some strange looking pine cone shaped things. I realized on the ground all around this tree were these pine cone shaped objects. On these peculiar creations were some shiny red beadlike things. Some of the beadlike things had detached themselves and were individually scattered around. Of course, I realized the pine cone was where the flower had been and that the pine cone wasn't a pine cone at all but a seed pod. The beadlike objects were the seeds of the magnolia tree.

This reminded me of my business. The corporation that supplies my training, events and products is like the giant magnolia tree: stable, with a firm foundation, ebbing and flowing in the wind but always steadfast, deep roots extending below the earth where you cannot see. We all start out as individual business owners – with the same tree to offer genetics, nourishment and support. Some business owners bud and flower bigger and brighter than others – these are the business owners who see the value of plugging in to the system and staying plugged in. Some quickly flower but then quickly fade – these are the business sprinters that didn't do any endurance training and won't go the distance. Some buds never flower at all – some individuals never do anything and let themselves die without ever living. Some buds are infested with bugs, throw in the towel and don't permit themselves to bloom – these are those negative influences that you allow to get you down and keep you down. You want to be the bright bloomer!

What is the real purpose of the magnolia tree? I believe that the real purpose of the tree is to send its seeds out as far as it can so it can free these seeds to start their own tree.

Wendy, what are you talking about? Your seeds are the fruition of your goals and dreams: the things that you value and want to pass on to your family and friends. For some of you the seed might be financial gain, a house that will live through the generations, a large piece of land for a family heritage, jewelry, don't just have an investment account but own the entire brokerage firm or maybe a Swiss bank account. For others your seed might be traveling memories to give your children, a birthday party that makes the newspapers (in a good way J), a home that always entertains, a wardrobe that any movie star would be proud to own, visiting and buying something at a European fashion show or recording that album you have always dreamed about. I am sure some would like to start a foundation to do research for some dreaded disease, money to help a kid "Make a Wish", feed an entire country for a year, save the whales or be the "go to" person for your family. Going one step further there are those of you who would just like to be able to do whatever the heck you felt like - whenever you felt like doing it! This is what the seeds are doing. The seeds are being scattered so you can make your mark on your family, community, country and your world.

What will your tree look like when you help others to do the same? The fantastic thing is I have the privilege to see people bud, flower, go to seed and begin their own offspring. What a great business! I will be there right beside you cheering you on to be the best that you can be, giving you gentle nudges when you start to let the bugs infest your bloom. In my business only you have the power to decide how many seeds you will scatter.

Are you ready?

Blessings,
Wendy Merritt

You can be as you choose to be. It's an act of discipline, but it can be done.

You can be as you choose to be. It’s an act of discipline, but it can be done. Current mood: happy Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

My favorite movie is The Bodyguard. Okay, so it's not the most philosophical, academy award winning movie ever. Nonetheless, it is my favorite. Let me share with you one of the most profound lines in the movie,

Rachel, "You probably won't believe this…but I have the reputation of being
a b----. I didn't used to be. But you get known for being a certain way, a way
people think you are…and pretty soon, you get like that. Guess you can't help
it."

He gives her a disapproving look

Rachel, "You don't think so? You're such an expert on famous
people?"

Frank, "I've seen a few."

Rachel, "And you disagree?"

Frank, "You can be as you choose to be. It's an act of discipline, but it
can be done."

Choices. Life is full of choices. You either choose: to better yourself, not to choose or to hurt yourself by bad choices. God has given each one of us the power within ourselves to choose good over evil, heaven over hell, progress over stagnancy, work over lazy, success over failure and the list goes on and on. It is this power and will that separates us from the animals.

PowerMax Energy has laid the path before you. You have a proven system, that should you choose to, can propel you into financial freedom. I am reminded of the saying, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink." I urge you to be honest with yourself. Are you settling for what you think other people can expect from you? Have you resigned yourself to never being able to succeed? Are you refusing to drink from the PowerMax Energy water trough? That is stinkin' thinkin' my friends and you are better than that.

Forget yesterday. Never mind your negative friends. Turn a deaf ear to non-supportive family members. Start now. Begin today. Choose today to be different than you were yesterday. It may be an act of discipline but it can be done! Your mentor that got you in this business saw potential inside of you. Prove them right!

Plug in by listening to all the PowerMax conference calls on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. Attend a live business overview in your area and listen to the business overview conference call on Tuesday nights. What! Not alone, but with a guest. Get registered for the next team building training offered by danijohnson.com. Plugging in means that the Above and Beyond SPECIAL OPs is not an option but is as necessary as breathing fresh clean air. Send thank you cards to your clients so they remember how thoughtful you are and will want to continue doing business with you. Send notes of blessings to your team members so they know you really care about them. Be an active participant in your team building efforts with your resource list, referrals, leads and new contacts. Advertise for yourself with business cards, wearing a PowerMax shirt, signs on your vehicle, brochures and other items available at www.thepowermaxstore.com.

You can be as you choose to be. It's an act of discipline, but it can be done. I have faith in you. Go get 'em!

Todays Freedom was fantastic!
Current mood: thankful
Category: Friends

Today I was able to experience freedom. Freedom that I have because my husband and I work together in a successful home based business.

Saturday, one of my husbands high school best friends and the best man at our wedding, dad died. He had cancer, but his death was sudden and fairly unexpected. He left behind a wife of 40 years and a loving family. We were able to go on a whim to a city 5 hours away for the funeral of a friend. No boss to call. No vacation days to check. No sick days to fake. Freedom.

It was a sad occassion but it was wonderful to see some of our old band dork friends! Bryan had a great time listening to some Dani and talking during the 10 hour car trip. Sometimes I forget what a great guy he is. I am so blessed to have him!

What a great day!
Current mood: good

I had a great day relaxing today! I went to church, watched TV with the kids, fell asleep watching TV with the kids...I woke myself up snoring! Hilarious, I know, chased goats...
Today the funniest thing happened. The goats were almost to the street and needed to be rounded up back into the pasture. I was lazy. I went to let Dakota, my border collie, out the office door but there were three cats and she would not budge. She is a chicken. I went to the front door and she finally headed outside. She ran out to those goats like she knew what she was doing. She herded them into the pasture and would not stop until the very last one was put up. I was amazed. She had so much fun she wouldn't come when I called her...I think we need to work on "come." I have high hopes for never having to chase a goat again. I think we will begin some obedience training starting tomorrow. She was so proud of herself that when we got back to the house she promptly jumped into the koi pond! A major no,no. I laughed so hard!

Tomorrow is a holiday...I hope I do something fun! I think I will redesign my website at http://www.startgettingresults.com/. We'll see.

Thank Goodness It’s Friday
Current mood: bouncy
I had a major problem with my myspace today. After much time I finally got it fixed by adding another html coding to fix something a java script was messing up. Not too much trouble but a little irritating. This is kind of like redecorating your house. About the time you get it just the way you want it...you are off to find a new way and color scheme.

Tomorrow is Amanda's party so lots of preparations are underway or there should have been lots of preparations. I think I have procrastinated again! What's a girl to do. I guess that means I will be busy tomorrow. I love parties. She is having a progressive fast food birthday party and then a movie at the house. It should be lots of fun. She has great friends and I look foward to seeing them.

I had a blast getting dinner ready for my in-laws. I love it when they come over. The dinner made the whole house smell good. I forget how much fun cooking is!

Tammie and I had a great time as usual today. You could not ask for a better business partner and best friend. Tammie is the best. Between the two of us we make one smart cookie! LOL
Well, off to sleep.

Wendy Merritt

Feeling much better

Current mood: accomplished

Today was a great day! My poison ivy is almost completely healed. I feel like a new person!
I got to spend the evening with my youngest...she is such a treasure. We got take-out chinese food, Starbucks and rented a pay-per-view. Fabulous evening of doing nothing but spending time with her. Treasure every moment.

Congratulations to Kim! I knew you would get it! How can anyone else compare with your skills and abilities. You are a joy to have in the office.

I finally found a verse of the day to put on myspace. Yeah! Thanks Stephanie...I borrowed it from your site :)

This is amazing

Current mood: chipper

I had no idea this would be so fun!

Just to make sure that I fully took advantage of the fun I turned myself into a star. LOL I added myself as a music artist. Check it out at: http://myspace.com/wendymerritt. The recordings were just something I did a while back for fun. I will work on putting better quality ones up later. I have always wanted to be heard...how fun! Oh, I might need to have Deon take some good pictures of me..shave a couple of pounds off, remove some developing wrinkles, even out my eye lashes..you know small stuff. giggle

Wow! I feel like I have had a crash course in myspace in the last 24 hours. My daughters still think I am crazy.

Today was an absolutely amazing day. My fantastic office staff covered for me while I recuperated from poison ivy and sterroid treatments. I trained a couple of people to make lead calls using a new system. We had an outstanding Freedom Fighters call tonight! It is wonderful to see the team growing and doing such a good job at succeeding. Kim, you go girl!

My Space is easier for my daughter than for me!

Current mood: tired

I got to spend some wee hours of the morning one on one time with my oldest daughter. We had a great time trying to teach mom how to set up a myspace. It is a pretty sad day when your child knows more about online life than you do. With that said I have been sitting here for 6 hours trying to set this up. It is now 5:11am and I am off to bed.

Blessings,
Wendy
